Viggo Mortensen is a name well known around the world for his roles in films like Lord of the Rings, A Walk on the Moon, Eastern Promises, Hidalgo and his most recent role in A Dangerous Method. Wikipedia Plot – Set on the eve of World War I, A Dangerous Method is based on the turbulent relationships between Carl Jung, founder of analytical psychology, Sigmund Freud, founder of the discipline of psychoanalysis, and Sabina Spielrein, initially a patient of Jung and later a physician and one of the first female psychoanalysts.

During an interview Viggo spoke about his own encounter with going to a shrink. Viggo said, “I only had one experience when I was about 24. I went for a short time. For me, it was helpful. I think it’s a great idea — the idea that you can go and confess everything, your deepest fears, your insecurities, your strangest thoughts to someone and know that it won’t go any farther than that room. If you don’t find some way to discuss or recognize what’s going on inside you, it can come out in other ways that are self-destructive.”


Viggo Mortensen as Sigmund Freud in A Dangerous Method

Viggo Mortensen will star as Sigmund Freud in the movie A Dangerous Method, which is scheduled for release later this year in 2011. David Cronenberg directed the film, and the cast included Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel in various roles as Carl Jung, Sabina Spielrein and Otto Gross. Oscar-winning writer Christopher Hampton adapted the screenplay from its stage version called, The Talking Cure. It’s rumored that Viggo Mortensen is incredible as Sigmund Freud in this dramatic film, which set on the eve of World War I and deals with the complex and turbulent relationships between Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud and Sabina Spielrein.
